About Moorland
The Moorland Childhood Centre is situated at “Little Orchard”, Exeter Road, South Brent. It exists to provide high quality education and care for children aged 2 – 8 years and is owned and run by a highly qualified and experienced early years teacher and nursery nurse, who work with a team of qualified staff.
Great importance is attached to the children’s environment it ensure it is attractive, welcoming and safe. It is decorated with restful, calm colours and textures in order that children can focus on their activity without visual distraction. The furniture is made of solid maple and wherever possible, equipment is made of wood and other natural materials in order to enhance children’s sensory and aesthetic experiences.

The homely kitchen allows children to cook together, engage in real food activities, and supplies freshly cooked hot meals for lunch (served at 12.30pm) and high tea (served at 4.30pm).
The Moorland Childhood Centre is set in a safe, secure garden overlooked by the Dartmoor foothills and outdoor activity is an important part of the children’s experience. As well as physical play, there is a kitchen garden where children sow, tend and harvest their own fruit and vegetables. Fruit trees allow children to observe seasonal changes at first hand, and mature trees and willow dens create magical hideaways. The fenced pond area, bird tables and nesting boxes allow children to observe wildlife at close quarters.
