Principles Into Practice
Our approach centres around the individual child, teaching at the child's own pace based on individual needs. Learning and knowledge are not something to be delivered, but are embedded in daily living and experience, to be explored and enjoyed.
Emphasis is placed on development of thinking skills and the process of learning, the joy of learning, learning how to learn and building the foundation of life-long positive attitudes in order that children may pursue learning themselves.
Through flexible planning (a route-map of activities and possibilities adapted to the needs and interests of the children), challenges and problem-solving opportunities, children are encouraged to ask questions and discover their own answers and direct their own learning guided by the adult.
Children learn by interacting with their environment, through movement and use of all the senses. Activities are provided which enable integrated learning and the development of competent thinkers. Young children require a calm, relaxed and ordered environment so that they feel safe, secure and happy and maximise the learning opportunities available to them.
